Mother's Day Promotion at MEDZS
If you haven't made any Mother's Day plans yet, you might like to consider MEDZS. I was invited to a preview of the promotional menu and here's what's on offer.
Serving Mediterranean fare at the basement of Orchard Central and ground floor at Millenia Walk, MEDZS is a casual dining, self-service establishment that runs on a 'credit card billing system', (like Marche).
Greek XXL Seafood Platter @ S$49.80 Butter Grilled King Crab, Salmon Head, Sea Bass, Sea Bream, Snapper, Blue Mussels, Fresh Live Prawns with Braised Tomato Aubergine, Mashed Potato & Watercress SaladCome 12 May 2013, MEDZS will be serving special platters for families to share as they celebrate Mother's Day. The seafood was fresh and pretty well-grilled however, as I was in the mood for more vegetables that evening, I enjoyed the Aubergines and Watercress Salad best.
French Family Meat Platter @ S$48.80 Pan-fried Duck Confit, Crispy Pork Belly, AUS Wagyu Beef Rump, Roasted Pork Ribs with Roasted Wild Mushrooms, Roasted Potatoes & Green Leaf SaladThe next platter was for meat lovers. I enjoyed the Duck Confit and Crispy Pork Belly as they were well-executed. I would have preferred to have the sauce on the side instead so that the crisp skin on the duck and pork wouldn't turn soggy from the sauce. I skipped the beef rump as it was done Medium-Well (some of the other diners feared the taste of blood). The Roasted Potatoes were pretty good although I think a sprinkling of sea salt might help lift the flavours better. The Roasted Wild Mushrooms were delicious as roasted mushrooms always are to mushroom lovers. Definitely worth a try.
Dessert Platter @ S$21.90 From left: Red Velvet Cake, Chocolate Brownie, Lychee Rose Panna Cotta, Earl Grey Crème Brûlée & Churros with Chocolate SauceThe meal ended with a Dessert Platter. I was too full to eat but I couldn't resist the Churros. Boy, do I love Churros! The Churros here are pretty decent although I wished there was just a little more cinnamon dusted over it for an earthier flavour. The Lychee Rose Panna Cotta was really pretty and not too sweet. In contrast, the Earl Grey Crème Brûlée which wasn't the prettiest of the lot, was one of the most popular dessert items at the table (second only to the Churros). Infused with Bergamot-scented tea, the rich custard wasn't cloyingly sweet. This is also worth a try.
If you love your tipple, you'll be pleased to know that they run a 1 for 1 promotion for beer. Y and I thought we'd get fruity with some Blackcurrant and Rose Beer. Lindemans Cassis (Blackcurrant) tasted like a frothier version of Ribena, surely this is one of the most harmless beers around, right?
If you prefer Ciders, the offer applies to ciders too. I was pleased to note that they served my favourite Cider, Brothers Toffee Apple at MEDZS. Tart yet sweet with lovely notes of butterscotch, this is definitely worth trying for ladies seeking a sweeter alternative to beer.
