Farewell, My Butterfly
Le Papillon is one of our favourite restaurants. News of its imminent demise made our hearts heavy with grief and an impending sense of loss.
Le Papillon was born 2 years ago. The excellent culinary creations by Chef Anderson had stolen our hearts...through our stomachs. Unfortunately, high rental fees, low traffic and problems with finding good service staff had dealt various blows to this establishment. Chef Anderson and Edmond decided to call it quits.
What better way to say goodbye to a restaurant in which we had enjoyed so many delicious meals that titillated our senses than to have one last meal together as a group? We met for dinner but the mood was muted with a twinge of sadness (a few of us felt tears welling up in our eyes). We consoled ourselves by thinking that this may not be "goodbye" but simply "farewell". With that in mind, we decided to celebrate the opportunity to enjoy Anderson's cooking for the last time and to thank him for all the wondrous experiences that we had.
Perhaps, the ephemeral butterfly may rise again one day like a phoenix from the ashes. I know I'm a dreamer but its hope that keeps us alive and I'm hoping for the best.
The curtains will come down on Le Papillon on 29 April 2008. Grab a degustation meal or a serving of the scrumptious Rigatoni Pasta while you still can.
