Tom's Palette - I love ice cream!
After such a satisfying lunch at
Sofra's on Wednesday, LB and I had to top up the scrumptious meal with homemade ice cream from
Tom's Palette! We figured that the short walk downstairs to the ice cream parlour was sufficient to partially digest our lunch and that would create some room for dessert. :)
I'd heard quite abit about
Tom's Palette from the
Makansutra Forums and LB told me that she loves their
Horlicks Ice Cream so I simply had to try it! I grew up eating
Horlicks powder by the spoonfuls and also loved crunching
Horlicks sweets (actually, they were like compressed
Horlicks powder pellets). Needless to say, I was elated at the opportunity to enjoy
Horlicks in a manner that is less "unglam" [picture how difficult it is to eat spoonfuls of powdered
Horlicks gracefully].
LB headed straight to the ice cream parlour while I got distracted by one of my favourite cookies along the way but hurried into the parlour when I realised that LB was waiting for me. Wow! So many flavours and just a little tummy room left for dessert.
I sampled some of the Chili Padi Chocolate Ice Cream (the tub of chocolate with 2 chili padis on top, sorry the pic's blurred because I was jostled around a little at the counter while trying to snap the pic). I was told that the "heat" would hit me after I was done swallowing it. I waited & waited, hmm...still don't feel the "heat" but LB said she could feel the "heat" and that I probably eat too much spicy stuff and so am pretty immune to "heat".
I tried some of the
Horlicks Ice Cream and was
SOLD on the flavour immediately! As I'm crazy about dark chocolate, I chose the regular ole
Chocolate flavour in addition to
Horlicks. It was pure chocolate indulgence mixed with the Horlicks flavour that I loved during my childhood! I loved the rich flavour of the chocolate and how it was not exceedingly sweet! The ice cream here is rich without being overly creamy. This is a
MUST-TRY!
Previously, my favourite chocolate ice creams were
Ben & Jerry's Choc Fudge Brownie and
Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk but now I'm putting
Tom's Chocolate Ice Cream right at the top of my list. This is seriously good stuff! I ate pints of Ben & Jerry's while recuperating from my wisdom tooth operations. I had 2 separate operations because I wasn't brave enough to get them all out at the same time and had a total of 10 days MC (not concurrently) to stay at home to nurse my swollen cheeks. Ice cream is soooo soothing when you have a wisdom tooth op and so I was clearing a pint a day. I'm the only person I know who actually gained weight while recovering from a wisdom tooth operation then again, I was the only one on an ice cream diet. Fortunately, I don't have any more wisdom teeth left for extraction else I might attribute my weight gain to
Tom's Palette but nonetheless, I'm glad to have finally tried the ice cream and look forward to checking out other flavours in future.
